Your current hoster blocks the running download after a few minutes with "timed out", which is too less to download the 12 GB game for anything slower than gigabit ethernet.
To fix this:
use a different hoster
compress the images more; renpy 8+ supports avif but you get already almost half of your current image sizes with cwebp default settings and omitting transparency.
My understanding is images and animations are now compressed as much as they can be compressed. Further compression would make image quality noticeably worse.
I do not know what compression method or methods are used now, original poster proposes using compressors like AVIF and WebP, but maybe those are already in use?
To solve this properly would require testing available image compressors and measuring which makes smallest file size without making image quality worse. This would need testing on the HH images, they are not typical photographs.
Yes, manga style is actually simpler, he could even reduce color palette. And using avif (which renpy supports and it ignores file extension if not hardcoded in the scripts), somewhere around 50% file size could be achieved vs. jpg and about 2/3 vs. webp.
Btw, i got Lessions in Love from 12 GB to 4.3 GB without visual loss, but that one uses a lot of PNG.

Uncompressed pictures/video are huge, this says nothing. That's why we have formats that compress them.
And yeah, i can't download the game, it always stops after a few minutes with connection timed out. And 12 GB is huge for a VN. Says it needs about 40 minutes to download on my current line (the one downside of this place).
One issue might be that HH does "animations" often manually, via a series of pictures, while a video format would compress a series of similiar images to a little more file size than one image.
The size of the game has been reduced by ~90% through compression. Any more compression has resulted in noticeably worse image quality, so I stick with 90%.
You may want to try a mirror link. The host you're using may be having issues.
Manual animations are an unfortunate requirement. Tests have shown me that using videos will not only lower the quality, but also cause a stutter each time the video is looped.
Like i said, there are more efficient image formats. For example the first image 2lobby.webp, size 423.8 kb. Using simple `magick convert 2lobby.webp 2lobby.avif` reduces image size to 81.5 kb.
About the video issue; please try again, i know at least a dotzend VN using videos succesfully. Reducing quality and stuttering must have been an error on your side, that's not a general problem of neither videoformats nor the stuttering one of Renpy.

There is patch for PC version 0.17 that upgrades it to 0.18. It is available at the Downloads section like the other downloads.
You do not mention what platform you are using, so I can not advice on how the patching might work. The patch download is a zip file, inside it is Readme-file that tells how to do the patching.
The zip file could be split to 1 GB files, download each separately and then join them back to one large zip file. This might be too complicated for typical users.
I would rather spend time figuring out what is wrong with the downloads, I have not seen problems. The file does take time to download, but eventually it has arrived and no errors.

I noticed that you are trying to help people with download problems. Unfortunately browsers don't like even the tiniest interruption when downloading something and downloading on a phone is even worse since using a 'weak' phone, using another app while downloading or the screen turning off can cause an interaption and a slow internet connection means there is more time for something to go wrong. I used to download everything on my PC before but when v18 came out tried on my phone since now I have a high end device and my internet is much faster and I didn't have a problem. I remember in this past I had tried to use mobile data which were a lot faster and everything was going great until someone called me and the download failed🤣. I think the only way to help these people is to provide another means of downloading where interaptions don't matter for example Torrent. If you want to simulate the error they are getting turn off and on again the wifi on your phone while downloading the game.

Relationship level increases as the story progresses.
There is an event when the requirements are met, and the event increases relationship level. Examine the Misc Info screen, those girls with exclamation mark have an event available. Talk to the girl at her door or try to find where she is and meet her there. Some events happen at a specific time of day. Some events trigger without you doing anything. I think a girl can not have two events in the same day, and some events cause a multi day wait before next event for that girl can happen.
The game tries to explain these things. You can read the Wiki to find out more, or just experiment.

Multiple parts, at best, means multiple zips that you will have to download, one by one in their entirety, to play the game once you are finished. PAR files, essentially, for those who are old enough to remember those, or Rxx files if you ever used RAR.
Separating the game into multiple single-character stories is simply unfeasible, partly because character stories are intertwined, which means you *will* need additional characters to continue a given character's storyline, but mostly because of the sheer amount of work it would entail.
Oh, I didn't mean separating every character, I meant like, every character goes through 15 levels per every game part. Part 1 is 1-15, part 2 is 16-30, part 3 is 31-45 and part 4 is 46-60.

I did finish all routes, except Jin's. In the wiki is stated that for the next step "enough time should gave passed for the addiction to wear off" and that i should enter Lin's room. Been skipping some days and everyone of them i do enter Lin's to talk to Jin, but nothing happens.
All I can say is WOW. Great writing, great variety of kink, great models and scenes. Great interactions between characters, drama, humour - this one got it all. The storytelling though - IS SOMETHING ELSE. I was bawling through ashley & pixel's memories - I connected so hard with thier characters. So well put together, engaging and addictive. TOP 5 AVN

Runey, a minor suggestion toward the game page here: around where you say that pregnancy is a planned theme, it might help, at least to some small amount, if you add a note or something saying that that content won't be added until around the end of the game.
Might stop a handful of people from asking when it'll be added, as they'll be able to just spot the information above.
I addressed that very thing in my comment. The key being that it might prevent a handful of people from needing to ask. In no way am I expecting it to prevent asking entirely, as some people just refuse to look for information.
This web page is already very long. The itch system maybe does not allow page of contents or other ways to organize it, and there may be many issues to add.
Another way might be adding Frequently Asked Questions to the Wiki. If the wiki does get FAQ, it should be divided in non-spoiler and may contain spoilers sections.

For one, I'm sure not everyone is even aware of the wiki, and if they are there's no telling whether they've been there before. I've been following the game for years and I've not once visited the wiki. Secondly, with it being on the main page, likely directly by the 'planned theme' it'd be right near where people would see that pregnancy is a planned theme; as I'm sure there are a number of people that read through the page, see that, and then ask about when it'll be added (or if it's already been added).
Just to reiterate, I do think it'd be a grand idea to add a comment about it in the FAQ on the wiki, but also to the direct game page here - where people will be able to find it a touch more directly. Even if it won't prevent many people, it just needs to help some.
Started playing this game about 3 to 4 years ago just wanted to play it for sexual whatever. Then I got real into the writing once the android started going somewhere. Thanks for the good times runey. I appreciate you taking time to actually put effort in your creation although its a little stunted do to the nature of a porn game. No hate I mean you just have to write around the sex which is fun in itself and sometimes adds to the writing.
There really is a pervasive misunderstanding about the game and its classification. It really isn't a porn game, by nature, it's an adult visual novel with a high amount of sexual elements. If anything, it's a bit of a minor difference... but still a difference.
I was trying the most recent PC version of this game and about halfway through it stopped and the message that showed up in the Download list was 4426675-archive-default.xml and beneath it, it says couldn't download - no permission
Are you sure there is free space on the device for the download? It is 12 GBytes.
That message seems like coming from your PC, not a problem with the file server you download from. So examine your PC and the directory where the download goes.

That language option is a placeholder. Turkish is not available (yet?).

You do not say what version of Harem Hotel you are playing.
In version 0.17.x there is a bug that sometimes prevents Maria from getting past level 30. That bug is fixed in 0.18.x version.
Then it should work. I did not see this problem.
Altering nia_alert00 should not be needed in version 0.18.x, maybe manipulating its value breaks things?

Can you put the download for android and pc into seperate occasions so we don't have to download them both in one file/folder
The Android version is the same as the PC version.
You do not need to download it twice, it is just one download. You should read the instructions above on this page, under How to play on Android:.
Runey, a minor suggestion toward the game page here: around where you say that pregnancy is a planned theme, it might help, at least to some small amount, if you add a note or something saying that that content won't be added until around the end of the game.
Might stop a handful of people from asking when it'll be added, as they'll be able to just spot the information above.
That may not help much. See the number of questions on this forum on how to play on Android, and that info is quite prominently exposed on this page.
I addressed that very thing in my comment. The key being that it might prevent a handful of people from needing to ask. In no way am I expecting it to prevent asking entirely, as some people just refuse to look for information.
This web page is already very long. The itch system maybe does not allow page of contents or other ways to organize it, and there may be many issues to add.
Another way might be adding Frequently Asked Questions to the Wiki. If the wiki does get FAQ, it should be divided in non-spoiler and may contain spoilers sections.
Discord has FAQ channel, but it seems to contain only installation and update information.
That's a fine recommendation as well, I think. Adding it to the wiki's FAQ could help a lot, but it'd also help, in some small way, to put it here on the main page.
For one, I'm sure not everyone is even aware of the wiki, and if they are there's no telling whether they've been there before. I've been following the game for years and I've not once visited the wiki. Secondly, with it being on the main page, likely directly by the 'planned theme' it'd be right near where people would see that pregnancy is a planned theme; as I'm sure there are a number of people that read through the page, see that, and then ask about when it'll be added (or if it's already been added).
Just to reiterate, I do think it'd be a grand idea to add a comment about it in the FAQ on the wiki, but also to the direct game page here - where people will be able to find it a touch more directly. Even if it won't prevent many people, it just needs to help some.

Started playing this game about 3 to 4 years ago just wanted to play it for sexual whatever. Then I got real into the writing once the android started going somewhere. Thanks for the good times runey. I appreciate you taking time to actually put effort in your creation although its a little stunted do to the nature of a porn game. No hate I mean you just have to write around the sex which is fun in itself and sometimes adds to the writing.
There really is a pervasive misunderstanding about the game and its classification. It really isn't a porn game, by nature, it's an adult visual novel with a high amount of sexual elements. If anything, it's a bit of a minor difference... but still a difference.

I was trying the most recent PC version of this game and about halfway through it stopped and the message that showed up in the Download list was 4426675-archive-default.xml and beneath it, it says couldn't download - no permission
Are you sure there is free space on the device for the download? It is 12 GBytes.
That message seems like coming from your PC, not a problem with the file server you download from. So examine your PC and the directory where the download goes.
You still have not revealed where you are downloading from. The Itch.io site or the mirror?

The download should work. Make sure there is free space on disk.
Try downloading again, I think download should continue where it was stopped.
