I hope no spoilers but the art and craft of the Story Teller involves the reader (!) becoming immersed enough to care about the characters. All I will say is the Lin arc left me on the edge of my seat. I just wanted to arm myself with Android and go rescue. Had a question though, in the 0.17 patch notes it says a repeatable scene with Kim and Ami at the hot springs, if the player is up to the current story is it missable? Secondly, in the gallery under other, there are two that are locked for me in the bottom, any idea what those are?
These two bugs are actually linked. You're supposed to be able to unlock Vanessa by visiting Kali's university. Vanessa unlocks more content with even more characters like Kim and Ami. At some point during the story, Vanessa, Kim, Ami, and Nala begin to visit the Hot Springs every week, this is where those new repeatable scenes are.
hmm, but I am unable to visit Kali in the university anymore I believe story wise, does this mean if I wanted to unlock that I would have to start a new game? Would loading a waaay older save possibly fix it?
Just started a new game, and wow, Lika was one of the MC's grandfather's maids! Ellen would remember her! I can't wait for that to come up in the future! Is Sophie that same one-eyed elf that's also in the lineup in Autumn's event?
I'm curious about the updated events for the Android; I'm not sure if there's any way to replay previous events without replaying the entire game again? Aside from the Gallery, but the options in there don't seem to be enough to cover everything that says it was updated in the patch notes.
Remade content can only be experienced by replaying the story. There are features for those in the betas to quickly jump to remade content to provide feedback but otherwise, sorry.
If you have at least v16 you download the Patch and copy the content into your "game" folder, overwrite files if needed (of make a separate backup if you're extra careful).
If you have an older version, you'll have to download the full release.
I don't know why but the game isn't opening anymore🥲.... It happened after I restored the quarantined file. Tried restarting and troubleshooting but still haven't solved
Patch File is called... "HH v0.16+ > v0.17 Patch" Instructions are as I wrote earlier and there is a README file in the Archive with more detailed instructions if need be.
As for the Quarantine... either your Virus scanner is a bit of a drama queen, or did you download from somewhere else and not itch.io? Never had my scanner hit on a file I downloaded from itch so far...
As for the game not opening, without knowing at least what the filename was, we can hardly recommend any course of action other than tabula rasa. Meaning clean slate, as in delete your game folder and download the full version.
Or you provide a bit of further information, maybe we can help if we knew what file got quarantined and for what reason.
idk if thats a thing u can fix but mediafire just dosnt really work for me its taking like 10h to download the patch i would be great if u could upload it to like mega or smt

I can't seem to get this to work on Android using the steps u provided as I think those apps have stopped working with the new Android version. Is it possible to release this version of the game as an APK again?

Hey Runey! Just wanted to ask if saves made on v 0.16.0 (no patches) are supposed to be compatible with the new version? If it is supposed to be than I guess there is a bug where it skips a few events in the android's storyline.
If it helps I used the patch file to update from 0.16.0 to 0.17. (Or maybe that is the problem? Because the patch says v0.16+ needed so maybe the version without patches is not included?)

To add to my earlier feedback, just because I feel like it's a disservice not to mention this, Lin's events stole the show. Wow. The stakes were so high that everything else, even Autumn's and Ashley's events, felt like sidelines. I don't say that to detract from them at all, just to praise. I sensed that Lin's events were where you put a lot of focus, and deservedly so. Those were tectonic shifts in the world. Those moments with the iconic photos that suddenly looked "aged"? I'm assuming that was to denote that "sometime in the future," those images are preserved as part of history.
You've gotten really good with expressions. Lin's in that first photo taken by that asshole was perfect. (Lika's expression of rage at one point was also perfect.) The images themselves were also really iconic, definitely of the caliber that I could see being immortalized for posterity. Reminded me of some iconic photos of the Civil Rights Movement and the Vietnam War.
The Android's contribution was fantastic. As was the reversal immediately following it. To be honest, the way things were going, I was starting to wonder when the Android would hijack an army of robots and send them to help overthrow the humans. Having Cornwall and "the government" have the power and vision to create something like Archon felt like it rebalanced my sense of the world.
And Archon. Well done. Massive 1984 vibes from that. Suddenly an AI can censor anything and anyone, completely cut a person off from the internet if they say things the government doesn't like or wants to suppress. And I have a feeling (a certainty, really) that the way they rolled it out before it was ready is going to bite humanity. Hard. The fact it could control all the droids (I think that's what I saw)? Giant red flag.
In general, I really got a sense that events are escalating to a state where something's gotta give. Not just in Lin's story. Kali's story, the mentions about a breeding program to create more half-elves, was disturbing in the extreme. Kali's step-mom's bit about "half-elf, pure elf, what's really the difference? Elves will still be here." was painfully believable. But the idea of replacing the entire workforce with elf-bots to "control the resources" (I think that's what it was) was frightening. It's exactly the kind of utopian vision that sounds great in theory (no one has to work anymore, yay!) but turns into a society-ending disaster when it hits reality.
I definitely sensed some inner turmoil in Kali. ("deaths in the low double digits." Really, Kali?) Felt like she's going to approach a turning point like Autumn's in the near future. Probably when she sees what's going on behind the curtain at her father's company.
You've taken us in some very intriguing directions! I can't wait to see where the story goes next!
A minor critique: One thing felt missing from Lin's bit, though only after I thought about it. Everyone's freaking-out reactions were great, including Nia's. But where was Jin through all of this? Did she have nothing to say or feel?
The story, the characters, all of it is so impressive. The work you've put in is second to none on here, and it deserves every bit of attention it can get. Keep going, and thanks for all the great times :)
The game is now telling me that my relationship with one or more of the characters is way too high, and I'm going to miss content if I don't fix it. What do I do about that? It's never done that before
I last played around v15, and have picked up v17 now. I noticed the menu at the bottom is missing (Auto, Previous, etc etc). Is that a bug for me, or an intentional change? Is there a way to trigger the 'Auto' function so the game's story moves ahead at its own pace, like a movie?
Hm, I'll keep looking, and I've asked on the Discord in case it's happening elsewhere. I haven't checked if this is happening in other Renpy games, as well.
Well, after some testing, the weird result is that only my main save is affected - if I start a new game, the menu is there. Is there any way to edit the quick_menu state in a save file...?

First download the file and it came out as .zip and then I put it in extract and that stuck but I don't know what to do now it helps and I get pc and I download it for cell phone
Man this has been one of the best so far so much so my only complaint is where the story ended, especially Lin, Autumn , and the Android ,man shit got heavy quickly.
I don't believe I've commented before, and I can't say I plan to much more, but I really love the world you're building. I know its cliché to say I play this at least 50% for the plot, but seriously man it's great so far.
I have experienced a lot of joy and laughter while playing this game. There is just a lot of goofiness in it, but I mean that as a compliment. I am very impressed with the world building you've done with the plot, it doesn't feel like... empty? I like the conflicts and such that come up with each character, keeping you invested. You planned a great event. Really resonates with what missionaries did to the Native Americans at "religious schools" aimed at "helping" them integrate with our society. Made me ill. And angry.
I was honestly a bit surprised Lika didn't take the knife that had been put in front of her and use it. I could feel the rage and desperation in the air all throughout that scene. I also remember that girl who couldn't speak Common from Lin's story. It was hard seeing her like that. Hard watching Autumn's sister do what she did, too. Actually, hard isn't the right word. It shocked me. Even with her thorniness, her willingness to do something like that was horrifying...yet all too believable given her past attitudes toward elves.
The way you handled Autumn's participation was masterfully done. Right at the point of no-return, the point at which I was in danger of turning against her as a character, she had that moment of epiphany and shame. That final frame when she walks away from Lin, I could just sense how she felt lower than dirt for what she'd done...and failed to do. Just being a part of that spectacle made her feel awful. I'd be haunted by the knowledge that even if I wasn't there, those "lessons" were still being taught.
Anyway, excellent storytelling. Your hard work paid off!
That's a fair point, Lika could have done more damage with a knife or fork, but it might not have stunned Hazel (and Autumn) long enough for her to get away.
I was on the fence about her going through with the shock, but I felt that she needed to go through this for character development. I'm glad you feel the same way! This is certainly a turning point for her.
Runey great work. I love how the story is evolving and the direction it's going I also can't wait to see more of Autumns story fleshed out more. I hope you take a good break and can't wait to see V0.18 when it's ready.
I'm on relationship level 38 with the Android and the next mission just won't start and the next Lin mission is tied to this, what do I have to do to start the next mission? I've done everything else in the game but I can't continue with the Android story which ties the Lin which ties the Autmn story. Can someone help me?
What is Lin's relationship level? Every event should tell you what to do if it's ready at their door. But when in doubt, you can always check the Wiki / Guide linked to on this page.
Lin is at level 26 and I have the talk option at her door but when I try to do it, it tells me "I should raise Android's relationship level". I cant's do the Sylvia quest because of that and the Autums quest is also stuck. I just don't get the option to level up the Android since the talk button doesn't pop up.
According to the Wiki there are only 37 relationship levels for the android as of 0.16 and there's no info about level 38 and o.17 yet so that isn't helping
ok,I'm a little confused on how to trigger Ashley's second new event. I've completed all the other new events but there's still an excalmation mark next to Ashley's name.
just open the 0.17 version you game would already have your previous saves in the game after confirmation that you can delete the previous 0.16 version if you want however if you don’t find previous saves then copy the save files from previous version to the new one you just downloaded
You couldn't have timed the update any better. I just finished v16 like a day ago or so and now v17 as well.
Overall, excellent work. I realy enjoy the main overarching story and how everything feeds into or off of it. I'm looking forward to how this will play out in the end.

Can you make an apk version
apk has a filesize limit of 2GB and I'm not sure how to get around that. The original size of HH is closer to 100GB.

No extra steps are required to load previous saves, and updating doesn't adjust any stats. I'm not sure what happened there.

Yes you need an emulator. there's a toturial on the page. Use the JoiPlay emulator with the Ren'py plugin. Then it works.

I cant's do the Sylvia quest because of that and the Autums quest is also stuck. I just don't get the option to level up the Android since the talk button doesn't pop up.
According to the Wiki there are only 37 relationship levels for the android as of 0.16 and there's no info about level 38 and o.17 yet so that isn't helping
Runey ive managed to download version 0.17 but when i try open it it says there was a traceback error
Without knowing what that error is it's hard to give advice. You may need to do a fresh reinstall though.

ok,I'm a little confused on how to trigger Ashley's second new event. I've completed all the other new events but there's still an excalmation mark next to Ashley's name.
As it says at the end of the prior event, you must buy Rasha's phone on the computer.

how do i download the update version cos i have it downloaded but dont know ow to update the game to v0.17 so im confused on how it works
You download the v0.17, copy the saves from the old version to the new and then run the game
Read the READ_ME in the update folders. The instructions are quite simple.
there is no read me there
there is only archive.rpa, hype, lovin_ladies and media.rpa
These are all of the files in the update folder.

just open the 0.17 version you game would already have your previous saves in the game after confirmation that you can delete the previous 0.16 version if you want however if you don’t find previous saves then copy the save files from previous version to the new one you just downloaded
You couldn't have timed the update any better. I just finished v16 like a day ago or so and now v17 as well.
Overall, excellent work. I realy enjoy the main overarching story and how everything feeds into or off of it. I'm looking forward to how this will play out in the end.
